Ruby Trichy Warriors has had an history of not qualifying to the playoffs until 2021 edition and last edition put them on the map of a team to reckon with. The team played it in such a way that if one has to find an example for the word “underrated” or “under dogs”, then this franchise from the 2021 edition would immediately pop up. They not only qualified for the playoffs but were the first team to enter the finals defeating the champions of last edition Chepauk Super Gillies in the Qualifier 1. Unfortunately, despite a great batting effort by the middle order, the team fell short of 8 runs in the finals and are still awaiting their turn to keep their hands on the trophy.
The team had players like B Indrajith, Vasanth Saravanan, Ganapathi Chandrasekar, Trilok Nag,TamilKumaran, Sai Kishore, K Vignesh etc. in the past.
Adithya Ganesh is the leading run scorer of the franchise among the ones in the squad with 450 runs at a S/R of 109.22. He is a useful middle order batter and also a key wicket keeper for the franchise.
Adithya Ganesh
Notable new entrants to the team include Sanjay MS from Dindigul Dragons who is a decent spinner and would be a key member for the franchise. Other players picked from other franchises are Atheeq Ur Rahman (from Lyca Kovai Kings) and Sugendhiran P (from Siechem Madurai Panthers). While Atheeq got just one opportunity for Lyca Kovai Kings, Sugendhiran got three opportunities for Madurai Panthers and both the players would be waiting to prove their worth.
In the batting front, last edition’s sensational star Amit Sathvik would be donning the role of providing fireworks for the team and would be ready to snatch the opportunity he missed out on, leading run scorer of the tournament. M Vijay, fondly called as Monk and who missed last edition due to personal reasons, would be waiting to make a comeback in the TNPL and would support the team to keep their hands on the coveted trophy. The middle order consists of the pivotal Adithya Ganesh, Akash Sumra, Anthony Dhas, Nidish Rajagopal. The backups for the players would be Muhammad Adnan Khan, Atheeq Ur Rahman, MS Sanjay.
Nidhish Rajagopal
Anthony Dhas
The allrounders pack is led by the experienced Anthony Das who hit some blows down the order for Lyca Kovai Kings in the 2019 season and also was a key bowler picking 8 wickets at an economy of 9.74. His best of 63 came against Dindigul Dragons in a rain-curtailed 13 overs-a-side match where he hit 2 fours and 7 sixes. R Ashwin, the captain of DD, tweeted the match as "13 overs game and 8 balls lost already!!! one helluva game". The match saw the record created in TNPL history with about 30 sixes hit in total by both the teams!!!
The bowling attack is led from the front by Saravana Kumar who was the leading wicket taker of the 2021 edition of the TNPL and his performances spoke for him as he was selected for the state team for the SMAT and VHT 2021. Anthony Dhas, Poiyamozhi M would be supporting Saravana Kumar in the pace bowling department. The veteran Rahil Shah would be leading the spin department with Mathivannan supporting him. Mathivannan is famous for his spell of 0.4-0-0-3 who cleaned up the Nellai Royal Kings in their first encounter in 2021 edition.

If giving a comeback after a disastrous season is an art, then CSG is a picasso of it. Being denied championship in the initial edition, they bounced back to demolish the team which denied them the championship, Albert Tuti Patriots and were crowned champions in 2017. They were beaten to pulp in the 2018 edition. This never dented the 2017 champions who ensured that they take back their championship cup back in 2019 denying the first championship to Dindigul Dragons. The defending champions never were down with dedication and passion and even though they were on the brink of losing their defense for the championship, they didn’t let any nerve take over them and successfully defended the title last edition against Ruby Trichy Warriors and would continue to keep the same spirits for this edition too.
The team had players like GS Raju, KH Gopinath, Thalaivan Sargunam, Vasanth Saravanan S, Antony Dhas W, Yo Mahesh V, Tamil Kumaran D in the past. The team has retained it’s core and some new faces have joined the team and would be raring to go to prove their worth.
The batting is powered by the wicket keeper - batter N Jagadeesan who is the TNPL leading run scorer with 1351 runs at a S/R of 127.57 averaging 54.04. He was the third highest run getter for CSG last season with 340 runs at a S/R of 126.87 and would be eagerly waiting to prove back his worth again in the TNPL. Being part of the CSK setup since 2020, Jagadeesan got very few opportunities and he used it to good terms and would be eyeing to get a permanent spot in the CSK setup in the upcoming editions. Kaushik Gandhi, the successful captain of the franchise and a 3 time title winner, would be partnering with Jagadeesan at the top and would be eagerly waiting to spark fireworks all across the stadium.
N Jagadeesan
R Satish
Rajagopal Satish, ex-captain of CSG would be gunning for the franchise with his experience. He is a seasoned campaigner for the TNPL and has also represented Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. He was a superstar for the franchise when he picked a 5-fer last edition against iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans before rain played spoilsport and abandoned the match. Following suit is S Radhakrishnan, who is a fierce striker of the ball and was a contender for the state team SMAT team. His fierce striking was a treat to the eyes and was a favourite among the cricket fanatics. One would be hoping to watch the duo of Radhakrishnan and Satish take on the opponents with their batting in the middle.
S Radhakrishnan
Sonu Yadav R
The all rounder pack is led by Sonu Yadav R, who originally hails from Uttar Pradesh and settled in TN. He broke into the state team during the SMAT 2020-21 and picked up 9 wickets in 5 games. He played for iDream Karaikudi Kaalai in the 2017 edition and for Ruby Trichy Warriors in the 2018 edition. Assisting him is the super Gilie Harish Kumar S, who contributed both with the bat and ball in the 2019 edition, hitting 150 runs at a S/R of 161.29 averaging 27.63 and picking up 16 wickets at an economy of 6.65. He was the second highest wicket taker for the franchise. Jaganath Sinivas, another all rounder from the Lyca Kovai Kings would add flavour to the middle order for the franchise.
Sandeep Warrier
Sai Kishore
The bowling pack is led by Sandeep Warrier, who shifted his base from Kerala to TN last season and is a handy pace addition to the franchise. He played for the Kolkata Knight riders in the IPL and has also represented the national team. The bowling unit consists of three young spinners in Sai Kishore, B Arun and M Siddharth, all retained from the previous edition for the franchise. B Arun bowls off spin whereas M Siddharth bowls slow left arm orthodox. M Siddharth is famous for picking 4 wickets for 20 runs in the finals of SMAT 2020-21 which sealed the game for the state team, his lone game in the SMAT 2020-21. Sai Kishore has played for the Gujarat Titans last edition and picked 3 wickets in the prestigious T20 tournament of the world and would be proving his worth to become a permanent member of an IPL team in the upcoming editions. R Alexandar, another left arm spinner also would fight for the spot in the playing XI with his spin bamboozling the opponent.
