Overview: A do-or-die game for both the teams where a loss would end SRH’s campaign and LSG’s hopes of finishing in the top 2. Both teams are facing off after two contrasting results in their previous games. SRH won a thriller against the Royals and LSG suffered a huge loss to the Titans.
SUNRISERS HYDERABAD: There are two different Sunrisers team in this IPL. One is the best team on paper and the other is a non-performing XI. Unfortunately for them it’s the non-performing team which has showed up so far. Despite having big names and quality youngsters, SRH have failed to impress now for the 3rd consecutive season. Their decision to change their batting order constantly to accommodate Harry Brook has backfired. But thankfully they might have sorted out that problem by dropping him and getting Phillips, which paid immediate returns as he won the game for them with just a 9-ball innings. Their bowling has also been disappointing as Bhuvi & Nattu has been on and off and Umran Malik has had a season to forget so far. Markande is the only bowler who has shown so far as Klassen for them in the batting department. A win will keep them alive, but a loss would end their tournament as the maximum points they can get would be 14 which won’t be enough.
LUCKNOW SUPER GIANTS: LSG are having a similar type of tournament which the Royals are having. And its also much like what they had last year. Starting the tournament strongly and then fading away in the 2nd half. In their last 5 games, they have won only 1 and lost 3 with one game being washed out. The pitch they play in their home plays a huge role in this. They have played some high scoring games away from home and some low scoring games at home which is affecting their momentum. They have the perfect combination of spinners to exploit the conditions, but their batters are struggling to score runs. They have posted the highest total of the tournament and failed to chase scores like 128 & 135. As far as now, a win would take them to 3rd place, and they must win it comfortably as their NRR took a hit in their previous loss. LSG’s only concern would be CSK as both had a washout and having points in the odd numbers. KL Rahul injury finally made way for De Kock who scored a half century in his first appearance this season.
