The rain had the final say on the day as the interruption didn't allow the play for the majority of the day.
It's England. It's summer. It's India vs England in the longest format of the game. It's the day two of the first test. And it's rain ! It had the final say on the second day of the first test of the series.
INDIAN OPENERS IMPRESS
After reducing England to 183 in the first innings, the Indian openers laid a good platform for the Indian innings. The innings resumed with 21/0 and the openers were watchful till the drinks break of the first session.
Both the batters then started to switch the gears. They played their shots and were rewarded for the same. Their 97-runs partnership laid the perfect foundation for the Indian innings.
BIG PLAYERS FAIL
After getting such a great start, Rohit fell to the short ball trap of Ollie Robinson just before the lunch break. It just opened the floodgates for England.
The ever impressive James Anderson then dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli in two successive balls and caused mayhem in the Indian batting lineup.
Ajinkya Rahane tried to be aggressive, which led to his downfall. He tried for an unnecessary run and was run out courtesy a brilliant throw by Jonny Bairstow.
BATTLE INTENSIFIED
Virat Kohli vs James Anderson is one of the greatest faceoffs in cricket and the battle got intensified as James Anderson dismissed Virat Kohli for a golden duck!

He became the first ever bowler to dismiss Virat Kohli for a duck in Tests twice. With that wicket, he also equalled the record of Anil Kumble's 619 Test wickets. One more wicket and he will become the third highest wicket taker in Tests.
WHAT NEXT?
With only 33.4 overs bowled on the second day of the test, the third day looks to be crucial, which also might decide the fate of the match. For India, KL Rahul looks well set and the team would be expecting him to make it big.
England on the other hand have made a good comeback in the game. They would be looking to finish the Indian innings as soon as possible, take a slender lead and proceed ahead in the game.
All this promises to be an exciting day of test cricket, provided rain doesn't play spoilsport.
