Ee Saala Cup Namde!! The slogan still lingers around the city of Bengaluru whenever the IPL comes. Jersey changed, Team name changed, new set of players, will the RCB men stand to the slogan and keep their hands on the coveted trophy this year?
The much-awaited 17th edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) is just a day away, and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team will be eyeing their maiden title. The expectations from RCB are high as always, and they have been gearing up for the tournament with great enthusiasm.
In the mini-auction, RCB made some significant moves, which were well received by the fans. However, some fans felt that it was below par as per their expectations. RCB acquired Cameron Green from the Mumbai Indians in a cash trade deal, which helped them balance their line-up.
This could be the last assignment for Captain Faf du Plessis, as next year there will be a mega auction. This time, RCB has everyone on their card, and they are eager to go out and give their best. The fans will shout their lungs out, praying for them & raise the slogan 'Ee sala Cup Namde' (This year, the cup is ours)
Probable XI for RCB:
Faf Du Plessis (Captain)
Virat Kohli
Rajat Patidar
Glenn Maxwell
Cameron Green
Suryansh Prabhudesai
Dinesh Karthik (Wicket-Keeper)
Mayank Dagar
Mohd Siraj
Lockie Ferguson
Vyshak Vijay Kumar
Impact subs: Karn Sharma/Akash Deep
It will be interesting to see how the management will make a way for Topley, who is also a great asset for the team. Even Alzarri Joseph might sit out because of the Red-hot form of Lockie Ferguson which he has been carrying through the last couple of months. His extreme pace with consistency might give him an edge over a half-fit Topley & Joseph.
Tom Curran's injury is still a concern, and as of now, there is no news on him. The big question is how the 'talk of the town' and 'the man in the form of his life', Will Jacks, can get into the starting 11. The trade of Cameron Green put a barrier in front of Jack's inclusion, but there is still one way to fit him in. If RCB went for a full Indian Bowling Option, considering Jacks can bowl a couple of overs of spin, he can replace any overseas Bowler and can play at 3 with Patidar at 4 and so on. RCB has a good Indian fast-bowling lineup this time. Jack's inclusion in the 11 can solve the problem of spinners; Maxwell and Jack can bowl better spin than those who are in the squad.
RCB's squad:
