The arch rivals Mumbai Indians will face Chennai Super Kings for the 2nd time in this season.
The five times champions are officially out and the 4 times champions will be out if they lose this match. It has been a forgettable tournament for both these sides and no one expected it but such is the standard of IPL where even the champion sides failed to match the level of performance.
CSK: CSK rely on a mathematical miracle for their playoff hopes and they would look to keep that possibility alive when they walk out to play this game. They seem to have finally found the partner for Gaikwad. After the return from marriage Conway looks unstoppable and performs like a matured Player. From a future perspective, Conway and Gaikwad are a big boost for CSK.
Mukesh Choudhary has been the other positive for CSK this season in the absence of Chahar. Next year when Chahar will return and Jadeja will regain his form back CSK will be one of the strongest teams again.
Ravindra Jadeja RULED OUT DUE TO INJURY
MI: Taking about MI this season is all-time worst for them. From opening to finishing nothing has worked for them. Rohit and Pollard are yet to perform. Bumrah's last match 5-fer gave hopes for the next season with Archer's addition. Just like CSK, MI too have got some positives like the youngster Tilak Verma who is the highest run-scorer for MI this season and the finisher Tim David who is a like for like to replace Pollard in the future.
Mumbai would like to register a win tonight on Pollard's 35th birthday who would himself be eager to end his lean patch and help MI avoid the wooden spoon which is the only thing left for them to play for in this season barring setting up a rough combination for the next season.
Suryakumar Yadav RULED OUT DUE TO INJURY
PROBABLE 11
MI: Ishan Kishan (wk), Rohit Sharma(C), Tilak Verma, R Singh, Tim David, K Pollard, D Sams, M Ashwin, Kumar Karthikeya, J Bumrah, R Meredith
CSK: D Conway, R Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Robin Uthappa, Shivam Dubey, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (C/WK), DJ Bravo, M Chaudhary, M Theekshana, Simarjeet Singh
Timing: 12 May, 7:30 PM
Venue: Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai
Pitch: Only thrice in 15 games at the Wankhede stadium, this season has a captain opted to bat first. Two of those ended in victories with one of them coming just three days ago. The other venues have offered more merits to change toss strategies and set a target, but there's no scope to do that at the Wankhede too.

- Rohit Sharma's early tentativeness against left-arm pace worked for CSK earlier this season as Mukesh Choudhary dismissed him in the first over.
- Jasprit Bumrah, fresh from the menacing spell of 5 for 10, should be unfurled against CSK's best batter this season - Shivam Dube.
- MS Dhoni has scored 710 runs at a strike rate of 130.8 against MI in the tournament.
- Rohit Sharma has near-identical numbers against CSK - 752 runs at a strike rate of 125.3, including seven half-centuries.
