Delhi Capitals take on Rajasthan Royals in their 3rd match of this season at the Guwahati. Both these teams have faced off 26 times against each other in which both the teams coincidently share 13 victories each.
Rajasthan Royals: After a flying start to their campaign with an easy victory over Sunrisers, Royals fell short of just 5 runs in a thrilling contest against Punjab Super Kings on Wednesday night. Despite that, Royals will come into this game with lots of positives as their domestic players Dhruv Jurel who walked in as an impact player and the local boy Riyan Parag almost took them over the line. Shimron Hetmyer who was on song, unfortunately got run out when the game was evenly poised, which in fact extinguished all the hopes of Royal fans as it turned out to be the game changing moment perhaps. The only worrying sign for Royals is Devdutt Padikkal’s performance. He has played 19 matches for Royals so far and could score only one fifty out of those. However, Sangakkara & co might still give him an another go to prove his worth of 7.75 Cr. Samson’s deputy Jos Buttler suffered an Injury while attempting a catch in the previous game and thus his availability will be the concern for Royals.
Probable 13 (including impact players): Yashasvi Jaiswal, Joe Root, Sanju Samson, Devdutt Padikkal, Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Sandeep Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal. (Impact Players: Dhruv Jurel, M Ashwin)
Team Analysis: Since Jos is injured, we expect Joe to fill in the shoe, we may also see Sandeep Sharma replacing KM Asif.
Delhi Capitals: The things for Capitals haven’t just panned out exactly the way they would have liked as they will be coming into this game with 2 straight losses. The batting deficiencies have been the concern since both Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell Marsh were dismantled by Wood in the first and Shami in the second game respectively which forced David Warner to play the anchor role. The DC Skipper has amassed 93 runs in the last 2 innings at an average of 46.50 but at a poor strike rate of 116.25 which will not do justice to his calibre. Rilee Rossouw who was picked ahead of Powell has had back-to-back miserable outings. On the other hand, Abhishek Porel’s 20 runs cameo would have surely pleased the coach. He looks promising and surely is one to watch out for. Anrich Nortje was on fire; on his arrival he dismissed Saha and the big wicket of Gill will surely give him the confidence going forward into the tournament. In the meanwhile, Mitchell March will be flying to Australia for his wedding and thus he will be unavailable for the next 1 week. Rovman Powell will be expected to replace him. Delhi Capitals will have to regroup quickly and play their A game to compete against a well balanced RR side.
Probable 13 (including impact players): Prithvi Shaw, David Warner (C), Rilee Rossouw, Sarfaraz Khan, Rovman Powell, Abhishek Porel (WK), Axar Patel, Lalit Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Mukesh Kumar. (Impact Players - Manish Pandey, Chetan Sakariya)
Team Analysis: Since Marsh is unavailable, Rilee may get another opportunity and Rovman may replace him. Rilee will be expected to bat at 3, Lalit Yadav may replace Aman Khan.
Key players to watch out for:
Delhi Capitals: David Warner, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Rovman Powell
Rajasthan Royals: Sanju Samson, Shimron Hetmyer, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jason Holder.
