The finalists of the 2017 Women’s ODI WC will rub shoulders on Mar 16th, 2022 at the Bay Oval Stadium at Mount Maunganui, New Zealand at 6:30 AM IST. Both the teams are on their respective roller coaster ride in the current WC with the defending champions England almost out of the race for the semi-finals and India is in a cat on the wall position based on their performances. The subjected match would be a decider of which team would fancy a chance to progress forward in the tournament.
England -W in WC 2022:
The defending champs of the Women’s ODI WC is in a sorry state of affairs with their performance in the ongoing WC in New Zealand. “Catches win matches” is a famous saying in the circle of cricket and the English women had it dropped a humpty number of times in the tournament costing their progress in the WC. They had lost to Australia by a small margin of 12 runs despite Nat Sciver’s belligerent century of 85 balls. They had salt rubbed on their wounds when the Windies women toppled them with a thrilling 7 run win albeit a thrilling 48th over from Anisa Mohammed. They went further downhill when the Proteas women defeated them by 3 wickets albeit a brilliant performance with the ball from Marizanne Kapp registering figures of 10-1-45-5. The next matches for the English women are with India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand and one more defeat in any of the games would confirm their exit out of the WC.
India – W in WC 2022:
The story of the journey of the Indian women in the ongoing WC is similar to that of the England women but some performances here and there is helping them to cling on to the rope tightly to escape the backlash. Batting of the Indian Women has been in a sorry state thanks to the sleepy innings by the captain Mithali Raj and semi-sleepy performance by the vice captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Yastika Bhatia and Smrithi Mandanna have been showing some intent at the top with Sneh Rana showing some intent in the middle in the batting. The approach against the Windies women should be continued further so that the progress in the ongoing WC would be a tellable one for the team.

Pitch and Conditions:
It's been a good summer in New Zealand so far. The pitches are dry and gold to bat on generally. So far in the tournament, the batters have found themselves enjoying batting in the middle. The bowlers too have something for them in the pitches.
