A clinical performance by Bangladesh as they opened their World Cup campaign with an emphatic win. The way things started earlier in the day, it seemed as if it would be an interesting contest. The Afghan openers got them off to an impressive start after they were put into bat first, Gurbaz and Ibrahim scored some runs and at one point they were 83-1 and then suddenly the storm named Shakib came and they flew off. The Bangladesh captain took three wickets and proved to be the game-changer. Not to forget Mehidy Hasan Miraz came and bowled dot balls after dot balls and built the pressure. He summed up Afghanistan's innings by picking up three wickets and they bowled out on just 156 runs.
.
It was the middle order and Captain Shahidi that sucked the momentum away from Afghanistan and Bangladesh made sure to not allow the opposition to get back in the game
When the chase began they lost their openers early but then again Mehidy Hasan Miraz batted well and scored 57 runs. His partnership with Shanto put Bangladesh in the driver's seat as they eventually got over the line by 6 wickets. Shanto finishes the game by scoring an unbeaten 59 runs. A morale-boosting victory for Bangladesh, not so for Afghanistan.
Afghanistan should be disappointed with their performances drop catches, poor fielding, and seniors let them down and they were never in the game. Their Bowlers did not look so threatened and this is the reason Bangladesh was so confident This is the boost for Bangladesh after so much drama before the World Cup.
