The two teams in blue square up at the Wankhede today as the Mumbai Indians host the Lucknow Super Giants in match 67 of Tata IPL 2024.
Both teams have had under par campaigns and would look to salvage some pride through this match.
Mumbai Indians
Walking into the tournament as one of the favourites, the 5-time champions had a horrific campaign, with being all set for what will be only their 2nd ever last spot finish.
Securing just 4 wins so far, their bowling has been terrible, conceding 170 or more runs in 8 of their games. And this is despite Bumrah’s exploits, who is having the best season of career so far. New skipper Hardik has found it tough to replicate the success he achieved with Gujarat and MI batters too have settled down for mediocrity after a great start to the campaign.
Lucknow Super Giants
When Rahul and Co. defeated Chennai Super Kings both away and at home, it looked as if the UP franchise was all set for their 3rd playoffs berth in 3 years.
However, 4 losses in their past 5 games mean LSG are pretty much out of the tournament for the race except for a formula mathematical chance. Similar to MI, Lucknow’s bowling hasn't been upto the mark, given majority of their games were in Ekana. Injuries to Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan only amplified their problems and fans remain stupified by some of Langer’s decisions. One of them is to not give a single chance to Kyle Mayers who was amongst the most impactful openers of last year's edition.

Pitch Conditions:
Wankhade has always been a belter and this was true in this anomaly of a season too.
The only respite for bowlers would be the early swing available. Expect some quick wickets to fall, 200 to be reached in the first innings, Bumrah to pick wickets and batsmen like Tilak Verma and Marcus Stoinis to score runs.
