The 3rd day game of IPL 2024, it's about between the one-time champs this Sunday.
Both teams have won one and lost one out of their 2 games so far in this edition and would look to enter into the top 4 part of the points table.
Gujarat Titans:
Having made the playoffs in both the seasons that they took part in, Gujarat made a comeback to defeat a Hardik Pandya led Mumbai side. It was a sluggish innings with the bat for the men from West whereas in the bowling, the spin duo of Rashid-Sai choked the opposition's middle and lower order. However, their match against CSK proved to be a one-sided drubbing with them suffering a 63-run loss which has resulted in them having the worst net run-rate out of all 10 teams.
Sunrisers Hyderabad:
Ever since the Warner-fiasco, SRH have struggled to repeat their feats of the past, though with record buys in the auction, SRH’s foreign contingent seemed one of the strongest in IPL history. Though, when the equation stood at 60 of 3 overs during the SRH chase, all hopes seemed lost. Then came Klaasen storm, arguably the current best T20 batter, but Harshit’s last over meant SRH walked away with 0 points. Next was hosting duties, as they faced Mumbai in their first home game of the season. Travis Head made his debut for the franchise and it was a six-fest. Head scored the fastest ever half-Century for SRH which was bettered by Abhishek Sharma half an hour later. Yet another Klaasen storm meant SRH scored a record breaking 277/3. They did get a scare in the 2nd innings, but Cummins’ 2/35 meant SRH reached home.

Playing Conditions:
Ahmedabad has so far hosted just the single match of GT vs MI in this edition. The pitch was on the slower side where batting got tougher as the innings progressed. Expect the spinners to play a big role and the large boundary dimensions may be exploited with intelligent cutters.
The average first innings score last season was around 190 in the Motera, but expect tomorrow’s pitch to play more along the lines of World Cup 2023 final.
- Average score batting 1st (IPL): 172.25
- Matches won batting 1st: 14.
