India: Team India is entering this game with 3 consecutive victories. After beating their arch-rivals Pakistan, they now will face Bangladesh in Pune. If there’s any team that has ticked all the boxes so far in this tournament has to be the home team, surely, they have. In their opening clash against Australia where the top order failed, it was Virat and Rahul who rose to the occasion and got the job done, following the contest against Afghanistan was a decent outing for the bowling department, but had to be the best for captain Rohit Sharma for his swashbuckling hundred. However, what was going to be the most awaited, lucrative, viewed, attendant, and interesting contest of India versus Pakistan turned out to be an anticlimax as India trounced Pakistan by 7 wickets just to keep their unbeaten record to 8-0 against the neighbors. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav were the architects as they changed the course of the match which saw Pakistan collapsing from a very good position. When it comes to tomorrow’s clash, India might bring in Ravi Ashwin to replace Shardul Thakur considering the number of left-handers in the Bangladesh team. They have been unstoppable and will look to make it four of four. 

Bangladesh: After beating Afghanistan in their opening clash Bangladesh seems to have lost their momentum as they are heading into this match with consecutive losses. Their batting hasn’t been up to the mark, especially the top order. Although Mushfiqur Rahim has two fifties to his name, no other batsman could score runs consistently. Das has one fifty to his name, Najmul Hossain Shanto who has enjoyed the purple patch for Bangladesh in the last year or so but hasn’t really hit the straps he hoped for. Shakib and Mushfiqur have been able to forge a few partnerships but these all couldn’t make much of a difference. On the other hand, their bowlers Shoriful Islam and Mustafizur Rehman were terrific with the new ball against New Zealand, however, they have been struggling to bowl tidy overs and pick the wickets in the middle-overs. They will certainly look to improve the same. Shakib has troubled Virat in the recent past, therefore this match-up is going to be interesting. Bangladesh will have to be reunited and put their best foot forward to compete against this mighty India.

Virat has scored 680 runs at an average of almost 69 having played 12 matches against Bangladesh in ODIs, that should sum it all.

Shakib Al Hasan: The number 1 ODI all-rounder has staggering numbers against India. He has amassed 184 runs in just 4 innings at an average of 46 against India in the ODI World Cups, On the other hand, though he could only pick 3 wickets in those 4 innings against the hosts, he could be the vital cog in giving a tough competition with both bat & ball.
