The capital city of India will witness the World Cup 2023 for the last time as Sri Lanka will take on Bangladesh in Match 38th at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. It is nearly a dead rubber in the context of this tournament, but as far as places for Champions Trophy 2025 are concerned, the match holds enough significance.
Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka has been a kind of rivalry off late more due to on-field aggression by players from both sides, something that can be entertaining for fans. In the last 5 meetings between two teams in ODI cricket, Sri Lanka has won three while Bangladesh has come on top two times.
Sri Lanka-
They have failed to hold on to the momentum. This has been the story for Sri Lanka, not only in this tournament but also in the recent past. They started well with the bat and scored 300-plus scores in the first two matches but as the tournament progressed, they stumbled and absolutely lost it in the previous match against India by getting all out on a paltry 55 runs.
The biggest drawback for them in this tournament has been their spin bowling. In the absence of Wanindu Hasaranga, their spin attack has looked toothless as they could only manage 5 wickets in 7 matches with spin bowling after bowling more than 120 overs. Dilshan Madhushanka has given them something to cheer about with his great outings with the ball, but the lack of companions meant that his efforts were not enough.
Technically Sri Lanka is still in the race for the Semifinals, which should motivate them to play good cricket in this match.
Bangladesh-
This has been a forgettable journey for Bangladesh. They were expected to do a lot better but failed awfully in all aspects of the game. Shakib Al Hasan looked nowhere near his best while other senior players also fell short considerably.
They are out of the tournament already and given how they are shaping up, another defeat can be on the cards for them, putting their chance of direct qualification for the Champions Trophy in jeopardy.

Pitch and Weather Report-
There are concerns about air pollution in Delhi these days. Weather is expected to remain clear as far as rain is concerned with temperatures hovering between 29 to 21 degrees Celsius during match time.
The pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium has been conducive to batsmen as the highest score in this tournament so far, by South Africa (428), has come on this venue only. Batting first seems a better option here as we go by the results so far on this venue.
