FALLING LIKE NINE PINS, TIRUPPUR TAMIZHANS!!!
There is a saying when a group of things fall down continuously without a gap or at short intervals as “Falling like ninepins!!!” and that was exactly the position of the IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans which pulled off a majestic, thrilling win in their last game only to be defeated viciously by the Madurai Panthers. Let’s head to the post match review of the match between Siechem Madurai Panthers and IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans.
IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans won the toss and elected to field first. There were two changes to both the sides with Tiruppur bringing in Affan Khader and S Aravind for S Siddharth and Rooban Raj and Madurai bringing in Deeban Lingesh and B Rocky for R Mithun and Kiran Akash. Openers P Sugenthiran and Praveen Kumar started for Madurai while captain of ITT, M Mohammed opened the bowling. Praveen Kumar opened the boundary count for the Madurai team in the second over of the innings bowled by Aswin Crist. Sugendhiran followed the same way of Praveen Kumar and hit two to the fence off Mohammed’s second over. The duo were rotating the strike as well as clinching boundaries for their team at intervals and were raising a good partnership until Aswin Crist came into the foray and dismissed Sugendhiran caught comfortably by Maan Baafna. Praveen Kumar was joined by Anirudh Sita Ram and the duo took on every bowler ensuring boundaries were hit at intervals and the scoreboard being kept ticking by converting singles and doubles.
The duo put up a 64 run partnership before A Karuppuswamy came and dismissed Anirudh Sita Ram caught by Aswin Crist in the 13th over. Karuppuswamy struck again, this time dismissing the other opener Praveen Kumar caught by Maan Baafna at deep mid wicket. J Kousik was sent on the hattrick ball and he safely tapped it, denying a hattrick for Karuppuswamy. Dinesh Karthik, captain of the TN State team, joined via Video call and had a chat with the commentators. He praised the efforts put by the TNCA committee to host the TNPL and heaped praises on Sai Sudarshan and expected him to don the blue jersey in another 10 years.NS Chaturved along with J Kousik kept the momentum going for the team and hit boundaries with aplomb. They did take the advantage and treated every bowler with respect by bombarding them with hitting too many runs. ITT lost momentum in the final few overs where they were keeping the scores under control and in one stage it looked like Madurai would score only 130.
But the momentum was totally lost and the duo of Chaturved and Kousik put on a 79 run partnership before Kousik was dismissed by cap Mohammed in his second spell castling his stumps. KB Arun Karthick joined Chaturved in the middle and hoisted two sixes and a four in the last few balls of Mohammed. Chaturved finished the proceedings in the first innings with a six to end Madurai’s innings on 184/4 in 20 overs.
Next came the ITT openers S Dinesh and S Aravind and Silambarasan opened the bowling attack for SMP. He struck in the first over dismissing Dinesh for 1 run by ratting his middle stump and taking it for a walk in the ground. Maan Bafna joined S Aravind in the middle. New pacer from Salem and Natarajan Cricket school, Gowtham V was introduced in the third over and Maan Bafna treated him with due respect and blasted one to the fence. S Aravind was dismissed in the first ball of 4th over albeit a run out with a direct throw from Silambarasan inside the circle off Deeban Lingesh second over. Francis Rokins joined Maan Bafna in the middle and both of them treated Deeban with boundaries. Gowtham came back to dismiss Maan Bafna albeit a blinder by KB Arun Karthick at covers. Karuppuswamy joined Francis Rokins in the middle.
The duo didn't last long when Francis Rokins was dismissed by A Srinivas caught by J Kousik and Karuppuswamy dismissed by J Kousik caught by A Srinivas. A better partnership than the ITT batters!!! Rocky and A Srinvas teamed up and picked the next two wickets of captain M Mohammed and Afaan Khader, the former caught by Anirudh Sita Ram and the latter caught and bowled by Rocky. Soon, the scoreboard of ITT read 38/7 in 10 overs. The team was really scratching their heads on how to not fold up soon. The trio of Tishar Raheja, R Rajkumar and A Crist gave some pride to the team by putting up together 65 runs for the last three wickets. Madurai won by a very big margin of 81 runs and docked two points to their kitty.
