Rajasthan Royals take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the quest for a table top finish for the playoffs and would be pumped up to defeat the wooden spoon holding team at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on 7th May at Jaipur.
Overview:
Rajasthan Royals: The Royals from the city of Rajasthan would be all pumped up and ready to all guns blazing as they are having a tough time to the playoffs. The defeat against Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans would be hurting them a lot as their bowling failed to stick to the plans made and would be working on the drawing board several times. The idea of not bowling Ashwin against the right handers of Gujarat from Samson last match was a baffling one as Ashwin has picked more right handers (9 wickets) than the left handers (4 wickets) this edition. Riyan Parag, their young recruit and the retained one, has not been in his best and even after coming as an impact player has not shown any impact in the matches he had played. Sandeep Sharma and Trent Boult are the lonely stars in the bowling quartet and it’s time that Samson takes the best decisions and does the rotation of bowlers smartly according to the situation. In the batting front, though Buttler has been off colour late, Yashashwi Jaiswal has been the shining star at the top and Samson has been producing good 30s which is a positive sign for the team. But beyond that, it is a big pothole for the team and it is time, the all rounders make a big impact.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: The Orange Army has been a big worry this time around despite having the best in their armour but everyone are failing every time. Harry Brook, a star from England, has been off colour ever since the century he hit and the comment he passed. Abdul Samad and Abhishek Sharma, the retained young guns have not lived upto the expectations of the fans and would need to step up big time to ensure they give the contributions expected by the fans and the franchise. Glenn Philips, a star from New Zealand, is still kept in reserves and it is a baffling decision from the management to not use as he is a proper 4 dimensional player who can roll his arms when needed, is a gun fielder, can do wicketkeeping and play as neat as possible with some woofing blows to the stands. Although Marco Jansen has been a gun player in the PP, his contribution post PP is a big worry. Vivrant Sharma, bought for 2.6 crores, is yet to get a game and this is another baffling decision from the management. It is high time, Lara and Co take the smartest decisions and ensure they don’t hold the wooden spoon when they finish the tournament.

Pitch / Weather Report:
A sluggish track awaits both teams at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur where run-scoring is not easy. The batters will have to rely more on singles and doubles than on big shots, while the spinners are expected to play a major role in deciding the outcome of the game.
