Overview:
Sunrisers Hyderabad hang in this tournament by a very thin thread and a win here can inject some life in their currently helter-skelter campaign even though they would need some other results to go their way apart from winning their remaining games.
Mumbai Indians started off their campaign with 8 straight losses and were the first side to be knocked out of IPL 2022. Post that, they found some sort of momentum as they registered 3 wins in 4 games. They would like to keep the good work going which will give them the confidence for the next season and may help them escape the embarrassment of wooden spoon this season.
Both these sides have somewhat similar stories as they struggled heavily owing to their batsmen who have failed miserably to click together as a single unit. Rohit Sharma and Kane Williamson's poor run has haunted their sides heavily as these international stars were expected to lead from the front owing to the experience and the amount that had been shelled by their respective franchises in an order to retain them. Expensive young buys like Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma have been blowing hot and cold and have been inconsistent. There have been some positives for them like Tilak Varma and Tim David for MI and Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram for SRH but as mentioned earlier, both these sides have displayed grit only in bits and pieces and not collectively as a batting unit.
Probable XI:
MI: Ishan Kishan (wk), Rohit Sharma, Tilak Varma, Ramandeep Singh, Tristan Stubbs, Tim David, Hrithik Shokeen, Daniel Sams, Kumar Kartikeya, Jasprit Bumrah, Riley Meredith
SRH: Kane Williamson, Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Shashank Singh, Washington Sundar, Marco Jansen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, T Natarajan
