This was showcased yesterday exorbitantly by a wily senior who defines “Age is just a number”.

Lyca Kovai Kings won the toss and chose to field first. S Sujay returned to the fold for CSG as Sandeep Warrier was injured and had to take rest. Lyca had R Kavin back as the wicketkeeper resting J Suresh Kumar. Openers K Gandhi and Jagdeesan started for Chepauk while A Tanwar started the bowling for Lyca Kovai Kings. The duo tapped some runs until K Gandhi took on Tanwar in his second over when he hoisted him for a maximum. But he perished the next ball giving himself to Yudeeshwaran at deep square leg. Jaganath Sinivas joined Jagadeesan in the middle. Jagadeesan finally broke the shackles after a brief stint at the crease and smashed two fours off Yudeeshwaran. But he soon perished caught by A Venkatraman off N Selva Kumaran. S Sujay joined Jaganath Sinvas in the middle and the duo put on some runs before Jaganath Sinivas was dismissed by N Selvakumaran caught by Sai Sudarshan in the deep.
Sai Kishore joined Sujay in the middle. He started off by smashing U Mukilesh for a boundary. The duo kept the scoreboard ticking before Yudeeshwaran came back dismissing Sujay caught by keeper Kavin. Satish joined Sai Kishore in the middle. Sai Kishore after a short stint, cut Mukilesh to the fence. The duo were tapping some runs and were rotating strike before Satish took the Chepauk by storm. He went after every bowler from the Lyca setup and didn’t settle for low scoring overs. Chepauk were stuttering at one point on 45/4 in 9 overs and Satish’s blitzkrieg ensured the team reached 120 in 16 overs when he was dismissed. Meanwhile, Sai Kishore hit some boundaries and shared a 68 run partnership with Satish before he was dismissed by Yudeeshwaran caught by Lyca captain Shahrukh Khan. Sasidev joined Satish in the middle and Satish continued his blitzkrieg,smashing a flat six to register his half century. Sasidev was soon dismissed by R Divakar caught by A Venkatraman. Satish was finally dismissed by A Tanwar in the penultimate over with a yorker caught by keeper Kavin. Sonu Yadav and Harish Kumar hit some runs and CSG ended on 159/9 in 20 overs.
Next came the Lyca openers GS Raju and R Kavin with M Siddharth starting the bowling for CSG. The Lyca openers stuttered with the start and soon Kavin perished with a neat quick ball rattling the stumps of his by M Siddharth. Sai Sudarshan joined GS Raju in the middle. The duo tapped some runs before GS Raju took on Sonu Yadav hitting him for a four and a six off consecutive balls before he made his partner Sai Sudarshan run out by a brilliant effort by veteran Satish. U Mukilesh joined GS Raju in the middle. The duo tapped some runs before Mukilesh was dismissed by J Sinivas caught by keeper Jagadeesan. Shahrukh Khan joined GS Raju in the middle. He started soon by smashing a four off J Sinivas. GS Raju soon got dismissed by Sai Kishore caught by keeper Jagadeesan. Ashwin Venkatraman joined Shahrukh Khan and was a spectator the time he came in. His captain on the other side was literally taming J Sinivas with three fours and a six culminating 21 runs off his last over. But Shahrukh soon perished with young spinner R Alexander dismissing him caught by Sonu Yadav. Selva Kumaran joined A Venkatraman in the middle. The duo tapped some runs before Harish Kumar dismissed Selva Kumaran, caught comfortably by CSG captain K Gandhi. A Tanwar joined A Venkatraman in the middle. A Venkatraman was dismissed by Sai Kishore caught by Jagadeesan and it was Sai Kishore’s 50th wicket in TNPL across all editions.Ajith Ram joined A Tanwar in the middle. Abhishek Tanwar took on Sonu Yadav and smashed him for three sixes in the 17th over and was helping Lyca move closer to the target. Harish Kumar played a vital role applying brakes on the run chase and dismissed Ajith Kumar caught comfortably by Harish Kumar. Sonu Yadav extracted his revenge on Abhishek Tanwar rattling his stumps and putting curtains down on the Lyca chase. Harish Kumar bowled the last over and gave just 1 run and ensured CSG was the first team to qualify for playoffs.
