The richest T20 league in the world where every player would want to take part and announce themselves to the world their arrival. Of the registered 1214 , only 590 will go under the hammer. Mark your calendar as auction will take place on 12th and 13th February in Bengaluru.
Let’s discuss the strategy of ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE
HISTORY:
Not the great journey of RCB as per their standards, but they never failed to entertain us. RCB is the team we all would like to see win every match due to their players. Their former captain VIRAT KOHLI is the brand for them and his buddy AB DE VILLIERS, his name is enough to attract audience. The trio of Gayle, ABD and Kohli was one of the deadliest in IPL history.
They had the players like Kevin Pietersen, J Kallis, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble in the past. Above all, RCB retained Virat in the 2011 auction and bought ABD in the auction from Delhi. They got Gayle in the midterm of IPL as a replacement. After this, batting of RCB completely changed.
They made the finals 3 times but failed to win the cup. 2016 of IPL is the best year for RCB. Every single person was in form but they failed to win in the finals against SRH. The defeat hurted every fan of RCB. Their fans always chant the slogan Ee Sala Cup Namde every year with utmost joy only to get disappointed at the end. Their auction strategy changed big time last year with Mike Hesson in the helm and their fans are positive that this mega auction would be the best for the team to lay their hands on the coveted trophy.

Retentions for 2022:
Virat Kohli: The Brand of RCB and their ex-captain Virat Kohli was retained for 15cr which was less than his amount from the previous years. Virat is RCB's leading run scorer and most dominant batsman in IPL. He captained this side from 2013 to 2021. He stepped down last year from captaincy and is ready to play purely as a batsman.
Glenn Maxwell: The million-dollar player picked by RCB last year has now become an important part of this franchise. This time they retained him for 11cr. After the retirement of ABD, Maxi has now become the senior-most important player for this side and will bat in the middle order to anchor the innings.
Mohd Siraj: The most trolled person is now leading the bowling attack of RCB. He got retained for 7cr. The unexpected retention by the franchise shows how they believed in this young man. He can bowl in the powerplay and in death overs too.
Auction Purse left: Rs. 57 Crores
With the auction purse of 57 crores left, let us look into the players the franchise has to target to fulfill their fans dream of a trophy.
Players to Target:
The batting has been never an issue for RCB but their bowling and lower order has been the problem for them for years. They must go for an overseas all-rounder and some pace bowlers who can uproot stump at any time.
Jason Holder: The talk of the town and first choice for every franchise. RCB must go for him at any cost. He can bowl at the start and give you some runs in the lower order and can anchor if the team gets collapsed. He is in red hot form now and can be the best pick for them. Apart from Holder, they must go for Indian all rounders like Rishi Dhawan, Shivam Dubey and they should try buying back Washington Sundar and Harshal Patel as they could be handy all rounders and who are well experienced with the franchise.
Trent Boult: The thunderbolt From New Zealand will be the lucky charm of RCB. If RCB goes for him and successfully get him so he can lead the bowling side along with Siraj and could be the best duo for RCB. Apart from this, they must be eyeing Young Indian pacer, Chetan Sakariya, Shivam Mavi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Ishan Porel etc.
Spinners and middle order batters are always in the game and RCB should go for best of the lot.
Wanindu Hasaranga: He came into RCB as a replacement for Adam Zempa in 2021 IPL but did not get much chance and failed in a couple of matches. But he is the most improved player and handy with bat which is a bonus for any team. Liam Livingstone is also the best choice for Number 5 and gives you some overs in middle. If they failed to get Livingstone they must pick Aiden Markram who is rising in T20s. Shahrukh Khan and Deepak Hooda are Indian players who can fit lower order.
After ABD's retirement, RCB is trying to find his replacement and they won't mind if they get anyone from David Warner or Johnny Bairstow. David Warner, everyone knows what he is capable of. Johnny Bairstow is the solid opening batsman who can do wicketkeeping which is also not a bad choice. If we talk about who will lead this side then RCB might go for Indian players and the list included SHREYAS IYER and MANISH PANDEY.
SWOT ANALYSIS:-
If you follow RCB their batting solely depends on Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Every auction RCB tried to make a balanced side, but they failed every time.
To win IPL matches, a team has to cover all areas of the game. In batting, a team is to have a good opening pair, a middle-order consisting of an anchor and few aggressive batter odwn the order. A good bowling unit that can bowl extremely well across different phases.
They invest lots of money in foreign players and fail to find an Indian player who gives you stability in the middle.
Their bowling is always a weak point for and they can't find a stable squad.
Their lower order is an issue every year and we are expecting them to go for an explosive all-rounder.
