The Tata IPL 2022 has been underway for more than six weeks. Since then, there have been several high-intensity games in which a match that appeared to be over for a team was unexpectedly won by the team that had been trailing for the whole of the game, while a match that appeared evenly balanced turned out to be over for a team much sooner than expected. This encounter between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans should be entertaining. The first encounter between these two was won by Gujarat Titans by 3 wickets.
With Gujarat qualified for playoffs with 18 points in their kitty and topping the table currently, and Chennai out of playoff race, who will win the dead rubber? Chennai or Gujarat?
Chennai Super Kings: -
Bruised and playoff chances out of their hands, Chennai Super Kings will definitely play this match with a fresh outlook and would like to end this tournament on a high. This was only the 2nd time in all the appearances where CSK didn’t qualify for the playoffs, despite being the defending champions in IPL 2022. Don’t be surprised if CSK make few changes to experiment their combination ahead of next edition of IPL and drop a few prominent names from their playing XI.
Gujarat Titans: -
What else is there to say? They've won nine of their first twelve games in their debut IPL season. With wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha getting two fifties and Shubman Gill at his best back again, their top-order looks to be in terrific form. Hardik Pandya, who is having problems scoring runs with the bat in recent times, is one of their middle-order concerns.
Their bowlers, particularly Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan, have been strong in the middle, and they will be looking to keep their winning streak going against the Chennai Super Kings after two humbling losses in the last 2 weeks against Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, before rebounding with a win against the Lucknow Supergiants.
Predicted Playing XI:
Gujarat Titans: -
Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Matthew Wade, Hardik Pandya (c), Sai Sudharsan, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami, Yash Dayal
Chennai Super Kings: -
Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Moeen Ali, Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni (c) (wk), Mitchell Santner, Simarjeet Singh, Mukesh Choudhary, Maheesh Theekshana
Pitch Report: -
The Wankhede Stadium, like the other of the TATA IPL 2022 pitches, has started to dry out. Furthermore, the use of red dirt pitches has tremendously assisted spinners, who are expected to benefit from the slow wickets. At Wankhede, the batting squad is likely to score around 170 runs, but the bowlers are expected to win. It'll be advantageous to bat first.
Weather Report: -
The weather is presumed to be good, with high humidity but no signs of rain.
