Let’s head to the post match review of the match between IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans and Dindigul Dragons.
Dindigul Dragons won the toss and elected to field first. They remained unchanged in their squad.IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans had three changes in Thamarai Kannan coming in for Affan Khadder, S Siddharth coming back for S Aravind and N Mohammed Ashik coming back for Tushar Raheja. Openers S Siddharth and S Dinesh started for the IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans while R Sutesh opened the bowling. S Siddharth opened the boundary count for ITT with a humongous six over long off of L Vignesh in the second over and a boundary was gifted in the form of a wide to the team. L Vignesh stuttered two times while bowling but managed to rattle the leg stump of S Dinesh taking it for a walk. N Mohammed Ashik joined S Siddharth in the middle and Siddharth was in full flow yesterday despite his poor performances over the tourney. He ensured his last opportunity in this year’s TNPL will be signed off on a good note and took on the Dindigul bowlers. Meanwhile, R Sutesh came for his second over in the powerplay and dismissed Mohammed Ashik plumb before the stumps. Maan Bafna joined Siddharth in the middle.
Siddharth took on the Dindigul bowlers, slapping them over deep square leg, deep backward point, long off and cutting through the fielders to make the ball reach the fence. As the duo were tapping runs and cutting for boundaries and raised a 50-run partnership dominated by Siddharth’s blitzkrieg, R Vivek came and applied brakes on their partnership dismissing S SIddharth with a fine catch by Mokit Hariharan at long off. Francis Rokins joined Maan Bafna in the middle. Maan Bafna took from where SIddharth left and he slashed R Vivek to consecutive boundaries off his second over. There was a chance to dismiss Francis Rokins off Hari Nishaanth but the golden opportunity was dropped by Swaminathan.
While Francis Rokins was playing the anchor role, Maan Bafna took on M Silambarasan and slashed him for a humongous six and cut through for a boundary. Just when the partnership was slowly building, M SIlambarasan came back to rattle their partnership by dismissing Francis Rokins with a deceptive yorker length ball only to be returned back to him by the batter. ITT captain M Mohammed joined Maan Bafna in the middle. Mohammed took on Gurjapneet Singh and hit him for a flat six only to be missed by R Vivek at deep mid wicket. Mohammed continued the same way with R Sutesh in his second spell and cleared him over long off with a powerful shot but soon perished caught by L Vignesh. Gurjapneet Singh came for the last over and kept things tight by dismissing Maan Bafna in the most unfortunate way of getting run out with Bafna’s bat flying to his right and his memory to the left only for keeper Manibharthy to sling to the middle stump with precision. ITT finished on 145/7 in 20 overs.
Openers Hari Nishaanth and S Lokeshwar started for Dindigul while Thamrai Kannan opened the bowling for ITT. Hari Nishaanth opened the boundary count off the last ball of the first over with a hard lofted shot off an over pitched ball. Mohan Prasath bowled the second over and gave a four off his first ball before dismissing Lokeshwar by foxing him with a slow ball making him move a little bit out for the keeper Mohammed Ashik to dispatch the bails. Mani Bharathy joined Hari Nishaanth in the middle and started the proceeding quickly by hitting to the fence off an arm ball. Hari Nishaanth took on Thamarai Kannan and hoisted him for a monstrous six. Hari also dealt Mohan Prasath the same way slog sweeping him. Meanwhile, Manibharathy took on Mohammed and hoisted him for a six and a four in back to back balls. There was a chance to dismiss Mani Bharathy, but the chance was dropped by Mohammed at mid off. The duo tapped runs and also took on the boundaries at intervals and stitched a 50 run partnership before Karuppuswamy came and dismantled Mani Bharathy with a slower ball.
R Srinivasan joined Hari Nishaanth in the middle. Aswin Crist came back for his second spell and was successful in removing the big fish Hari Nishaanth with a neat catch by ITT captain Mohammed and A Crist bowled a WICKET MAIDEN!!! R Srinivasan soon got dismissed by Karuppuswamy caught by Maan Bafna. R Vivek and Mokit Hariharan were the new batters who had to take the team past the finish line for them to qualify. There came a bonus 5 runs when the first ball of the 3rd over bowled by A Crist hit the gloves of the keeper kept aside. Mokit Hariharan followed with a fiery slash to the fence costing more runs for the ITT bowler. The duo of Mokit and Vivek were tapping some runs before Vivek took on ITT captain Mohammed when he hit him for two fours and a six in the 15th over. Vivek again took the stride and launched Karuppuswamy for three fours and a six notching up his half century and sealing the game for Dindigul and confirming a berth in the playoffs.
