It has been over five weeks since the start of the Tata IPL 2022. There have been many high intensity matches since then, where a match which looked over for a side, was suddenly won by the weaker side and a match which seemed evenly balanced looked over for a team very soon. This match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Sunrisers Hyderabad also looks to be a high intensity one, like their previous encounter in this IPL, in which it was difficult to tell who would win till the last over.
Kolkata Knight Riders
They had started their IPL season very well by winning 3 out of their first 4 games and topping the table for a brief period of time, but since their first encounter with the Delhi Capitals, they have lost 5 matches consecutively, although many of those matches looked really close. They then won their next match against the in-form Rajasthan Royals but lost to the newly formed Lucknow Supergiants. They made a comeback by winning by a huge margin against the 5-time champions Mumbai Indians and kept their playoffs hopes alive. They would be looking forward to extend their winning streak to keep outside chances of playoffs alive.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
They had a below average start by losing their first two matches in the IPL this year, followed by very good middle phase with five consecutive wins but followed by four losses on a trot. Their most humiliating defeat was in the very last match in which they lost by 67 runs against the underachiever team Royal Challengers Bangalore. They would look to bounce back and end their losing streak and keep their playoffs qualification chances high when they face the last year’s runners-up KKR.

Pitch Report
The pitches across every stadium in The TATA IPL 2022 have begun to dry up, including the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium as well, but the groundsmen are ensuring to leave grasses on the pitches so that the fast bowlers may face help especially with the new ball. Moreover, with the red soil pitches being used now, the wear and tear has also helped the spinners a lot who are expected to take advantage of the slow wickets. The side batting first is expected to bat first, as in the month of May the teams batting first have won more frequently. The side batting first is expected to post a total of around 170.
