When you hear the words England playing West Indies in a T20 International, the only thought that crosses your mind is Carlos Brathwaite hitting Ben Stokes for 4 consecutive sixes to win the world cup out of nowhere.
5 years down the line, we neither have Ben Stokes nor Carlos Brathwaite for different reasons. The intensity of the game still remains the same. England certainly have scores to settle with West Indians after what happened to them 5 years ago.
England:
England have all the bases covered and are going in to this World Cup as clear favourites. They have one of the best opening pair world cricket has ever seen followed by World no.1 batsmen in Dawid Malan. Their bowling looks a bit weak with the absence of Jofra Archer but they have enough resources to cover that up.
West Indies:
They have always been an unpredictable side. We don't know at the start of the game which Windies will turn up to play the game. Their team has some brutal hitting power which can never be matched by any team. Their team has plenty of experienced individuals who have been playing T20 cricket for decades. It promises to be a mouth watering encounter.
Players to watch out for:
Jos Buttler:
We all know how destructive he can be in the powerplay and with the pace that Windies bowlers bowl, he would love it even more. Once he sees off the powerplay we know England will be in a great situation to win the game. Not to forget his keeping which has improved vastly over the past couple of years.
Ewin Lewis:
Another opener who loves this format. It seems he was born to play this format. He has been very successful in International as well as franchise cricket playing T20 cricket. He has scored 100s in T20 cricket for fun. It would be an interesting battle that he will have with Woakes and Willey.
