THE RIVALRY CONTINUES ! INDIA VS PAKISTAN IN WOMEN'S WORLD CUP.
It's that kind of a rivalry in cricket. India vs Pakistan rivalry has been the highlight of cricket. Of course, they aren't playing regularly like they used to before. Still, they're playing against each other in almost all the multi nation tournaments of late, thanks to the scheduling.
This time though, the women's senior team of both the countries are taking on each other in the all important world cup. It would also be the first match of the tournament for both the teams. Fans could expect some good battle between bat and ball throughout the match.
Head to Head:
In the history of One day internationals, both the teams have faced each other for 10 times and Indian team have managed to win all the 10 matches so far. It's been that one-sided a contest for a great rivalry.
In the ODI World cups, both the teams have met twice, in 2009 and 2017. India won both the matches. Interestingly, no batter has scored a fifty in an Indo-Pak World cup match. Pakistan haven't been able to cross 75-run mark against India in world cups.
Previous Result:
Both the teams had met each other in a world cup match the last time it happened in England. The match happened in the county ground of Derby. India opted to bat first and managed to score just 169 runs in their 50 overs.
In reply, Pakistan were reduced for just 74 runs. It took just 38.1 overs for the Indian women to dismiss Pakistan. It was a low scoring, yet an one-sided match. Ekta Bisht was sensational as she claimed a brilliant fifer.
Players to watch out for:
Smriti Mandhana - One of the best batters in the world at the moment. Opening the batting for India, she would be crucial for India's chances. She can bat aggressively and can also play the long innings. Would be good to see how she would perform against Pakistan.
Jhulan Goswami - They say "Age is just a number" for a reason. At 39, she's still running in and bowling for India. She's the leading wicket taker in women's ODI and the spearhead of Indian bowling attack. She would be hoping to deliver her best against Pakistan.
Javeria Khan - She's Pakistan's leading run scorer in ODIs. She's an experienced campaigner and it wouldn't be wrong to say that Pakistan's batting is dependent on her. She would be hoping to score as many runs as possible.
Nida Dar - She's also an experienced campaigner. She's the highest wicket taker in ODIs for Pakistan among the active players. She would have to deliver her best for Pakistan to have any chance in their match.

It's been a good summer in New Zealand so far. The pitches are dry and gold to bat on generally. So far in the tournament, the batters have found themselves enjoying batting in the middle. The bowlers too have something for them in the pitches.
