It has been over three weeks since the start of the Tata IPL 2022. There has been many high intensity matches since then, where a match which looked over for a side, was suddenly won by the weaker side and a match which seemed evenly balanced looked over for a team very soon. The rivalry between the two sides Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians persisted since the inception of the IPL and the match between the two most successful sides are also known as the El Clasico of the IPL. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have in total won 9 tournaments out of the 14 IPL tournaments. They also clashed few times in the now Defunct Champions League T20.
Overview:
Mumbai Indians:
Mumbai Indians have previously also started with a losing streak in which they ended as champions but the number of matches they lost now in a trot makes them almost out of the Indian Premier League 2022 playoffs. The only way they can now qualify for the playoffs is by winning all of their remaining matches, which although is not impossible, but is extremely difficult owing to the current form of the Mumbai Indians.
Chennai Super Kings:
Chennai Super Kings have also lost their first 4 matches in the IPL, but owing to an excellent display of batting by Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube, CSK won their 5th match in the Tata IPL. But their miseries in the IPL continued when from a very good position, they lost their match against the Gujarat Titans owing to a tremendous 94 from the Proteas player David Miller and a cameo of 40 from the stand-in captain of the Gujarat Titans, Rashid Khan.
