History wise both have come exactly how the other have usually entered the knockouts of a tournament. Pakistan have been clinical, almost unbeatable while Australia have been patchy, relied on individual brilliance and look like self-exploding any time. Historically Australia have had the last say in all ICC Knockouts so far , from Border's 1987 semis win to Waugh bashing them in 1999 finals , Clarke then making getting 2 over them in 2010 & 2015.But this WT20 has been about changing the trend and Pakistan do start favourites in this clash.
Pakistan have played 2 matches at Dubai, with extremely contrasting results. Whilst they pushed over India, Afghanistan almost got the better of them. Australia have had 3 outings, while they butchered Bangladesh, Buttler gave them a taste of the 2019 ODI WC semi finals
Australia's key men in the group stage have been Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood. The batting after the openers and Marsh haven't received any chance in their last 2 matches meaning rustiness might just bite them if need by. Pakistan also have been a top heavy team but Malik , Hafeez and Asif Ali have shown tremendous form in the limited chance they've got.
The biggest loopholes both team have is what will the middle order do if the top order is shaved off batting first. While Australia have failed miserably when the situation surfaced vs England, Pakistan are yet to be tested this way.
Key Players: Shaheen and Hazlewood have regularly giving early breakthrough and will have to deliver again.
X Factors : Steven Smith and Fakhar Zaman have been off track in the WT20 so far , both proven big match players will want to show up on the semis podium again
