RAJASTHAN ROYALS:
Rajasthan Royals were quite clinical in their opening game, except for a period when the Pooran-Rahul partnership got going. In the batting department, captain Sanju Samson led from the front with 82(52)*, with support from Riyan Parag, who scored 43(29). Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel played good cameous. Trent Boult was superb with the new ball, as was Nandre Burger. Sandeep Sharma also bowled pretty well in the middle and death overs.

Delhi Capitals had a relatively poor season in 2023, and had below par start to the season this year as well. All among the Top 4 - David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Shai Hope and Rishav Pant got starts but all of them failed to convert it to a match winning knock. Axar too played a good cameo in the middle overs, but all the other middle order batters failed, which meant the Capitals had to bring in Abishek Porel as Impact Sub, leaving them with a bowler short. However, Porel's thunderous knock of 32(10)* gave them a score to fight with. Kuldeep Yadav was brilliant with the ball(4-0-20-2) and was very well supported by Axar Patel(4-0-25-0). Khaleel Ahmed leaked runs in his first 3 overs but bowled a brilliant 19th over to bring the Capitals back into the game. Ishant Sharma (2-0-16-1) was good with the ball, but got injured leaving them with one more bowler short. This meant Mitchell Marsh and Sumit Kumar had to bowl 6 overs among them, and together they went for 5.2-0-71-0. This was where the Delhi Capitals lost the game in bowling.

With Anrich Nortje available, he is likely to come in place of Tristan Stubbs. Sumit Kumar is likely to miss out, with Abishek Porel starting XI if DC bat first, and Mukesh Kumar coming in as the impact Sub when DC bowls later. If DC bowls first, Mukesh Kumar is likely to start in the playing XI with Abishek Porel being the impact sub. Also, there is a chance that Prithvi Shaw can come in place of Ricky Bhui, but DC might give atleast few more chances to Bhui.
