Zimbabwe and Bangladesh are set to play the limited overs format over the course of the next 12 days. The three ODIs will take place from 16th of this month before concluding the tour with an equal number of T20Is.
Bangladesh were comprehensive in beating the hosts in the one-off test that kick-started the tour. Going into the limited over series, Bangladesh are without the service of their veteran wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim who has opted out citing personal reasons.
On the other hand, Zimbabwe under the leadership of Brendan Taylor have showed that they have promising talent up their ranks. The young pace attack of the squad lead by Blessing Muzarabani put up a great fight in the recently concluded Test match and are likely to once again show us their aggressive approach in the upcoming ODIs and T20Is.
The ODI series to be played by these two sides is a part of the ICC ODI World Cup Super League while the T20I series holds great relevance for both sides with the T20 World Cup being just around the corner.
Shakib Al Hasan is likely to play at no.3 spot; the same spot that helped him amass loads of runs in the previous ODI World Cup in 2019 though he is yet to show the same sort of form ever since that big tournament. Having retired from test cricket, Mahmudullah will be solely concentrating on the limited overs format with an eye on the major tournaments.
Bangladesh played a practice game against ZIMSXI two days prior to their first ODI, where their batsmen got a good outing to get ready for this series. Liton Das could take up the gloves in the absence of Mushfiqur Rahim. Their premier left handed pacer, Mustafizur Rahman bowled only 5 balls in the practice game and seems to have had a niggle.
