In Bengali, there is a saying 'Sob Khelar Sera Bangalir Tumi Football', which means The Best of All Games is Bengali's Football. I am among those Bengalis who don't think so. For me, Cricket is the best sport in the world. There are talks like very few countries play cricket, which I feel is absolutely not true. Many nations play cricket, but they lack the required skills to make it to the World Cups or become a Full Member Nation of ICC.
I keenly started watching cricket from 2003-04 and being a Bengali, the person who brought me to Cricket is none other than Dada Sourav Ganguly. Over the years, I have been throughly entertained by Cricket. Though I feel with time somewhat the quality is decreasing. The focus is nowadays more on T20Is and especially T20 leagues. As a result, Test Cricket is dying slowly and ODI Cricket is dying very fast. I hope ICC and the other nations cricketing bodies promoted Tests and ODIs more compared to T20s.
Among my most memorable matches I have watched live, would include the 438 chase by South Africa, the highest ever in ODI. Another memorable game for me was the 2019 World Cup Final. As I said earlier, I stared watching cricket from 2003-04. India tour of Pakistan in 2004 was the first series I looked with keen interest. The first ODI where India won by 5 runs and the last test, which India won and as a result pocketed both the Test and ODI series are very memorable to me.
Among the greatest innings I watched, it would be Maxwell's 201* in the 2023 WC against Afghanistan. Among the bowling spells, Tim Southee's 7/33 against England in the 2015 WC is one of the all time favourites.
There are many more favourite matches, innings and bowling spells of mine, but just mentioned a few of them for article purpose.
