This is the story of a visually impaired & a world-record breaker cyclist, Ajay Lalwani. Ajay Lalwani believes that one does not necessarily need a pair of eyes to watch out for their dreams. All you need is a heart to watch those dreams which needs to be mixed with some amount of dedication & intent to fulfill them.
Ajay Lalwani, who has got his predominance by his adventurous blind cycling records, has embarked on a 7,500km peddling journey across India to raise awareness about road safety. His journey would go from Mumbai to Jammu, then from Jammu to Kanyakumari & back to Mumbai. He has received a massive amount of appreciation from the social media world for the motive behind this journey.
"Many people die in accidents at night, and the main cause is the lack of proper road lighting. This time, I'll travel over 7000 kilometres. Through my campaign, I hope to persuade India to illuminate roads so that people like me can travel safely," stated Ajay.
The 25 year old visually impaired cyclist has been known for his commendable records. He has also bagged some world records to his kitty. Some of his world-record peddling journeys were from Dadar-Gondia-Dadar (2010 km) & Mumbai-Goa-Mumbai.
The talent within him is not only limited to the two-wheelers but he is also inclined towards other sports. Ajay is known for bagging several national-level medals at para-sport tournaments in Judo & Kabaddi.
When it comes to setting targets, Ajay has been really impeccable & dedicated towards it. He always aims to complete a humongous 1000 km of distance through peddling per month. Ajay comes from the Buldhana district in Maharashtra. Coming to his prodigy times he would ride to his school, which was 4 km away from his house. Now when we talk about his first & foundation pillars in his peddling journey, then it should be his four brothers. Whenever he used to go to the school, his four brothers would guide him through every turn, bump, and obstacle, with two protecting him from the right and the other two from the left. So, it's evident that his siblings were the foundation stones & guides towards his records in blind-cycling.
Having a peddling team of his own (#TeamAjay), has set an inspiration for many people to follow their goals & passion.
He kickstarted the above stated incredible journey from the Gateway of India, Mumbai on the 15th of November, 2021. His initiative collaborates with Signify, the new name of the well-established lighting company, Philips. Through the Blind Cycling Expedition 2021, Signify will illuminate the streets of India.
With the motive behind this initiative, netizens have given him some warm & whole-hearted support. With his campaign, he is ready & motivated to achieve his targets to successfully spread awareness about the current road related problems in our country.
