The IPL Mega Auction just completed this week and the squads of all the 10 teams are complete. With the additional 2 franchises and the purse getting increased to ₹ 90 Cr (from ₹ 80 Cr last year), many players have been bought for a handsome price, while there were a few players who failed to find any buyers.
Let's have a few comparisons with respect to the 2021 squads:
1. Top 5 Highest Gainers
As the teams look in the future, this time it were the bowlers who got benefitted the most. With Harshal Patel winning the Purple Cap last season, it was somewhat obvious that he would be among the top picks and RCB left no stone unturned to get him back.

2. Top 5 Highest Losers
Krishnappa Gowtham became the most expensive uncapped player in the history of IPL in 2021 but he did not feature in a single game for the 2021 Champions. The lack of action resulted in a massive pay cut for him.

3. Top 5 Unsold Players
Suresh Raina, who never went under the hammer since the inaugural mega auction in 2008, couldn’t find a single buyer. Mr. IPL, as he is popularly known as, had been a consistent performer of the league and has been the leading scorer of the tournament since 2010 until Virat Kohli overtook him in 2019.
Missing the 2020 season due to personal reasons and a mere 160 runs in 11 outings last season, led to franchises not having any interest in getting the veteran. Unfortunately, this could be end of the road for Mr. IPL.

4. Franchise whose players got the highest amount in 2022
Here we have considered the squads of 2021 of the franchises and have compared it with their prices of 2022. Since the purse of each team has increased by ₹ 10 Crores, the amounts were bound to increase, but can you guess which side had their players gaining the most?
As many of you might be able to guess it, Mumbai Indians' players earned the most. There were 5 of their players that earned a massive ₹ 57 Cr through retentions (4 for MI and Hardik Pandya for GT) while others got a hike in their paycheck through the auction. Have a look at the price of MI's 2021 players and the amount that they earned this time around.

5. Players representing the same side as 2021
With a mega auction and a great reshuffling of players, we are sure that you all must be confused as to which player will represent which team from this season. A simple solution to that should be to remember the number of players who will not have to change their team this season.
Check out the list of all players that were re-acquired by their respective sides through both retention and auction -
