Life's a full circle as they say and very well said seemed Corey Anderson. Born on 13th December 1990 in Christchurch, he played International cricket as an allrounder for Newzealand Cricket team.
He started his domestic career for Canterbury in 2006.His performances led him in becoming the youngest Blackcaps player to get contract from Newzealand Cricket Council in 2007.His hardwork paid off as he finally got the debut call for T20 squad against South Africa.
Corey played 31 T20Is and scored merely 485 runs at average of 23 and took just 14 wickets at high average of 35.He had a shambolic T20 career. Subsequently, he played his last T20 international in November 2018.
In the following year he made his ODI debut against England in Champions Trophy 2013 at Cardiff. He started 2014 with a bang on 1st January as he broke the 17 year old record of fastest hundred by a player off 36 balls and scored 131 runs off 47 balls. His odi career also had ups and downs but had a decent 2015 world cup where he accumulated 231 runs with bat and took 14 scalps with the ball.
In longer format of the game he played 13 Test matches and even scored 4 fifities but in 2018, he decided to quit the longer format to continue the focus on shorter format of the game.
He got another fame when in IPL-7 he was bought by Mumbai Indians and with Indians needing190 off 14.3 overs he was promoted to bat at No.3 and scored 95 from 44 balls and helped them qualify for playoffs. Injuries have been part and parcel of Anderson's career and he wasinand out of the squad because of this. But in 2018, he got another IPL contract from RCB but was dropped after continuous failure.
In 2020, he retired from Newzealand Cricket and signed deal with Major League Cricket with intentions for playing for USA. In 2023, he became eligible to represent them. He got major sigh of relief when he was announced in the squad for USA against Canada for 5 match T20 series and also expected to be part of their World Cup squad. We wish Corey All the best for his future career ahead.
