Yes, the 14th edition of the Vivo IPL is coming back! After 140 days of pause & a little bit of boredom for many cricket fanatics, this colossal T20 tournament will resume its business with its remaining matches scheduled to begin from the 19th of September.
So, the other half of the tournament starts with the hailed El Clasico between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) & Mumbai Indians (MI). Oh boy! What a way to start the tournament with a bang here at the Dubai International Stadium which would be the 30th match of the tournament. So, it's going to be the 'BEST versus BEST'.
This leg of the tournament will be played in UAE. All the remaining matches would be held in the three predominant stadiums of Dubai, Abu Dhabi & Sharjah. The playoffs stage of the tournament would be held at the stadiums of Dubai & Sharjah. And concluding the tournament with an epic finale on the 15th of October at the Dubai International Stadium. These were also the venues for the 2020 Edition of the tournament. So indeed, it's going to be exciting to witness as it has always been the case with this biggie tournament.
Coming to the points table, team Delhi Capitals are leading the table with 12 points. And Chennai Super Kings (10 points), Royal Challengers Bangalore (10 points) & Mumbai Indians (8 points) following the top contender respectively. But that doesn't mean the remaining bottom 4 cannot qualify for the playoffs stages. The remaining 50% of the tournament could turn the tables & might give us some surprises. So, the tournament awaits us with some great dosage of competition & entertainment.
When we come to the section of top stats, Shikhar Dhawan from the Delhi Capitals (DC) leads the race of the Orange Cap (Highest Runs Scorer) with a staggering 380 runs from 8 matches with an average of 54.28. Whereas, Harshal Patel from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) leads the race of Purple Cap (Highest Wicket-Taker) with 17 wickets at an economy rate of 9.17.
Till now, 29 matches have been played & indeed it was just an amazing dosage of entertainment & talent. We have seen new talent coming out from this vast franchise-based flagship T20 tournament. By this, we rest assure that our Indian Cricket is safe. And we have seen some wholesome entertainment, sportsmanship, etc. So, it's obvious, the other half would be just amazing & exciting. We just hope for the remaining 31 matches to be equally intriguing, entertaining & competitive, as it's the IPL.
